Troubleshooting & Considerations
We want your stay with us to be worry free as possible. Below are some items to check for common malfunctions at your property. If you need assistance please contact us at our office at 301-387-5999.
Hot water and electric should be on upon your arrival, if it is not, you can find the breaker box:
In the lower level laundry room.
Heat and A/C – If the heat or AC is not working, please check the breaker box.
Oven - Some of our properties have self cleaners on their ovens. If you find that your oven is not working correctly please check that the oven door is unlocked. It will not work if it locked.
Water – This home has well water. Please use water conservatively and stagger showers.
Septic Systems – This unit has a Sewer system. Please put only toilet paper down the toilets. Please, DO NOT, place diapers, wipes, sanitary napkins, paper towels, etc down the toilet.
If you see the red light flashing on the side of the house, please call the office immediately, 301-387-5999.
Refrigerator – The fridge settings should always be set on medium. If you put warm food in the cool fridge it will take some time to cool back down. Please do not crank up the settings, for this will cause malfunctions with the refrigerator.
Electric Storms – If there is an electricity storm please immediately get out of any water for risk of injury. Please avoid using appliances during storms and turn off all major appliances. If certain appliances or areas of the home are left without power, check the breaker box to see if one or more breakers kicked off during the storm or power surge. Please call our emergency line if there are any problems at 301-387-5999.
Electronics – Many of our homes have high tech electronics and are valuable. Please do not let children handle these unattended. If you are having trouble activating any of the items please contact our office at 301-387-5999. Your property has Cable TV.
Furniture – All the furniture was selected by the homeowner and placed in specific locations throughout the house. Please do not move any furniture on your own. If your group is renting multiple properties, please do not mix the furniture or kitchen items. Please do not take any furnishings, including blankets, outside. If there is something wrong with a piece of furniture please call our office and we will send someone over to take care of the furniture.
Carpets/Upholstery – If you accidentally stain the carpet and/or upholstery please contact our office as soon as possible so we can treat the stain before it sets.
Clogged Toilets – All of our homes are equipped with a plunger. Please look under the sinks, in the laundry room, or in the utility room. If plunging does not correct the problem please contact our office.
Power Failures: If a power failure or fluctuation should occur or if we have an electrical storm, please unplug all electronic equipment (TV, stereo, microwave, etc). Turn you’re A/C to a higher setting so it’s not actually running. This may prevent power surges or lightning from destroying appliances you will enjoy using during your vacation.
Campers & RV’s: No RV’s or tents may be used at the home for sleeping, cooking or any other purpose. They may not be parked at the home.
Return Items: If you leave any items in the home and want them returned to you, we will make every effort to located and mail the items in a timely manner. We will charge the cost of the postage plus a $10 handling fee.
Owner’s Closets: Each home has at least one locked closet which is unavailable to guests. These doors are checked after each rental by our staff. If the door appears to have been tampered with, a charge will occur.
Grills: The use of any grill, other than the grill provided by the owner, is absolutely prohibited. Please do not move grills to any other location. Charcoal grilling is allowed at ground level only. DO NOT use charcoal in a gas grill – this is a fire hazard. Propane is provided for the gas grills. Please turn off the gas grill at the tank to conserve propane.
Upon Arrival
Water, Hot Water & Electric: All should be operational. If they are not, check the circuit breaker box (location is listed on the Amenity Details page). If that does not correct the situation please call the office.
Refrigerator: The fridge settings should always be set on medium. If you put warm food in the cool fridge it will take some time to cool back down. Please do not crank up the settings, for this will cause malfunctions with the refrigerator. It is helpful if you only stock it initially with those items that are perishable. After the refrigerator has cooled completely, then add the non-perishable items.
Cleaning: Our housekeeping team takes great pride in ensuring that your property is spotless. However, we do occasionally miss a few items. If the cleaning is not prepared to your satisfaction, please contact our office within the first few hours of your arrival and we will be happy to send someone back over to clean the areas that were missed.
Damages: – Please contact our office immediately and report and broken items or something in need of repair. We will be glad to take care of any items that may not be functioning.
*All trash must be removed from the property upon your departure.*
